Ziele

  1. Introduction to the standardization bodies in the field of networks and TCP/IP
  2. Understanding the layered Ethernet medium by detailing layer 1 (standards, cable, and connectors) and part of layer 2 (frames and introduction to bridging)
  3. Mastery of TCP/IP addressing (mask, classes) and segmentation of IP subnets
  4. Knowing the IP header fields and their use
  5. Understanding the operation of service protocols related to IP, ICMP, ARP, and DHCP as well as packet routing principles
  6. The benefits of/differences between the best-known and most-used transport protocols - TCP & UDP - will also be highlighted
  7. Understanding the concept of DNS and Netbios over IP applications. A few troubleshooting tools will be considered in each chapter and for each application
