Description

Students will become Blue Coat Certified ProxySG Administrators upon completing the course and passing the Prometric online exam.

Audience

IT network or security professionals who wish to master the fundamentals of Blue Coat products with a focus on network security and who have not taken any previous Blue Coat training courses.

Requirements

Students should be familiar with networking essentials, such as LAN, Internet, security, and IP protocols. Basic knowledge of authentication methods is also a plus.

Objectives

  1. Describe the major Secure Web Gateway functions of the ProxySG.
  2. Describe the role of the ProxySG as it relates to other Blue Coat products as part of a complete security solution.
  3. Configure a ProxySG and place it into live service.
  4. Administer the major Secure Web Gateway functions of the ProxySG
  5. Perform basic troubleshooting of the ProxySG and decide when it is appropriate to open a service request.

- What types of licenses Blue Coat offers, and how each type of license is acquired.
Module 6: Proxy Services
- Background of the services framework
- Service ports, service port actions, and proxy service attributes
Module 7: Introduction to the Visual Policy Manager
- Control Web protocols and Web communications
- VPM and its key concepts
Module 8: Content Filtering and WebPulse
- Define how the ProxySG uses the information returned by WebPulse

- Overview of the IPv6 capabilities of the ProxySG
Module 15: Basic ProxySG Troubleshooting
- Common issues that can arise with the ProxySG.
